title="Palliative treatment of the liver metastatic tumours \– usefulness of the intratumoral injection of the TNF-\α",
abstract="Seven patients were treated with TNF-\α (tumour necrosis factor \α) in the 3 rd Department of Surgery in Poznań in 1998. TNF-\α (0,6 \– 1 mg) was given during laparotomy in four cases and percutaneously under computer tomography control in three cases. Mild flu-like symptoms occurred in 5 cases and usually subsided after 48 hours. All the patients remain under continuous surveillance and CT scanning is performed every third month. Regression of the tumour diameter has been observed in two patients whereas the diameter remained unchanged in four cases. One patient died due to disseminated malignant process. Few side effects and satisfactory preliminary results encourage farther investigation.",
