abstract=" Introduction: Problem of low quality of life (QOL) among polish chronically dialyzed patients (HD) is still unpopular one in our country. In the same time it is known majority of HD patients have lowered QOL. Material and methods: For three years we have estimated QOL of 418 HD patients from six dialysis centers. Control group was established from 63 patients\’ spouses. Both groups we filled in the form concerning among others QOL, depression, anxiety and personality profile. Results and conclusions: HD patients\’ QOL was 30% lower than in CG. The most troublesome reason was patients\’ inability to do exacerbated live activities. We have observed a slow improvement in patients\’ QOL especially during the first 12 months of HD treatment. QOL was strongly negatively correlated with diagnosis of depression and anxiety. Low QOL score was the strongest predictor of HD patients\’ mortality.",
