abstract="Anaemia is common in the course of malignancy. In approximately 20-60 % of patients anaemia is a significant clinical complication. The paper presents etiology and pathogenesis of anaemia in patients with neoplastic diseases. The characteristics and effects of erythropoietin are reviewed. The results of randomised clinical trials on the use of erythropoietin in cancer patients treated with radiotherapy and radiochemotherapy are presented.",
