title="Complications of tension free vaginal tape surgery in treatment of stress urinary incontinence in women",
abstract="Non-invasive and minimally invasive methods for treatment of female stress urinary incontinence are still being improved. However the data concerning their efficiency and safety are insufficient. Placing the sling under the midurethra remains one of the most common procedures. New sling materials used during TOT or TVT operations are also being tested.   The aim of the study is to evaluate the improvement in TVT treatment of female stress urinary incontinence and to perform the analysis of early and late complications after this kind of surgical treatment.  Complications after TVT procedure can be divided into two groups: intraoperative complications, the ones that might result from the damage to the structures in the retropubic space, or postoperative complications. The latter are further referred to as either material related or micturition disturbances. Micturition disturbances include usually: subvesical obstruction, elevated post-void residual volume and de novo urgency. Problems concerning the material used during the procedure embrace urethral or vaginal erosion of the tape, urinary tract and vaginal infections.  We performed the analysis of complications after TVT procedure using data obtained from prospective randomized studies concerning treatment of female stress urinary incontinence. It seems that as the new operation techniques are developed and new biomaterials are implemented the rate of TVT complications constantly decreases.",
