title="Results of radiotherapy of malignant melanoma treated in Greatpoland Cancer Center",
abstract="Background. Malignant Melanoma is recognised by several radiotherapists as radioresistant. Many radiobiological data and well-known differences in the morphology of melanoma suggest that this claim may be false. An overview of literature and own experience are presented. Principles of the radiotherapy of melanoma are discussed.   Material and methods. The results of irradiation of 57 malignant melanoma patients, treated at the Greatpoland Cancer Center in the years 1970-1993 are discussed. Clinical data, histopathological data and 5-years survival rates are presented.  Results. In whole irradiated group 5-year survival rate was 40,4%. Total remission after irradiation led to higher 5-years survival rate.   Conclusions:   1. Part of patients irradiated palliativly can survive 5 years.  2. There are no reasons to recognise malignant melanoma as a radioresistant tumor.",
