title="Diffusion lung capacity for carbon",
abstract="Measurement of the diffusing capacity of the lung for carbon monoxide (DLCO) provides information regarding pulmonary gas transfer. A reduced DLCO often signifies pulmonary parenchymal and vascular disorders. A high DLCO is recognized in some clinical conditions such as obesity, asthma and left-right intracardiac shunt. Interpreting the DLCO in conjunction with assessment of lung volumes and flows may assist in diagnosing the underlying disease.",
