title="Assessment of asthma control",
abstract="Asthma is a very important health problem because of the increasing prevalence and chronic course of the disease. Guidelines prepared by an international group of experts are very helpful in routine practice, but asthma control remains insufficient. Currently, monitoring of disease should rely on analysis of clinical and spirometric parameters. Clinical parameters have been included in simple tests recommended for systematic patient assessment. One of them, widely available in Poland, is the Asthma Control Test\™. Regarding the role of inflammation in asthma pathogenesis, inflammatory markers are expected to play a role as a tool in choice of adequate therapy. Measurement of eosinophil count in induced sputum and exhaled nitric oxide are most appreciated.",
