title="Review articleCardiac tamponade",
abstract="Cardiac tamponade is a life-threatening condition induced by compression of the heart caused by fluid accumulation in the pericardial sac, resulting in reduced atrial and ventricular filling, and subsequent haemodynamic compromise. In tamponade, the primary abnormality is compression of all cardiac chambers due to increased itrapericardial pressure. Severe pericardial fluid pressure can cause a drop in blood pressure, shock, abnormal heart rhythms, or death. Prognosis depends on prompt diagnosis and management of the condition and finally on the underlying cause of the tamponade.",
