title="Case reportA rare case of serous cystadenocarcinoma of the pancreas",
abstract="A case of serous cystadenocarcinoma of the pancreas in a 56-year-old woman is reported. The patient was admitted with uncharacteristic complaints in the epigastrium since several months ago. A preoperative computed tomography (CT) scan disclosed a large pathological mass in the head of the pancreas, pressing the vena cava inferior and right renal vein. Pancreatoduodenectomy was performed (Longmire-Traverso operation). The common bile duct and residual pancreas were anastomosed into a segment of the small bowel. The postoperative course was uneventful and the patient is currently well, without evidence of recurrence or metastasis 8 months after surgery. Serous cystadenocarcinoma of the pancreas is a rare neoplasm with relatively good prognosis with curative operation. Pancreatic resection is the treatment of choice. Complete resection has a favourable prognosis with a low probability of recurrence.",
