abstract="Endoscopic ultrasonography with biopsy has been a valued diagnostic procedure in gastroenterology practice for the last few years. The number of indications for this procedure, either diagnostic or therapeutic, is high and still growing. The authors of this review based on papers published in the years 2006/2007 present recent news concerning echoendoscopic diagnosis and treatment of the gastrointestinal tract. Based on Medline among 904 articles found, 37 were chosen for presentation. In this paper issues concerning contemporary diagnosis, treatment and safety of echoendoscopic procedures are reviewed and presented.",
