The aim of this study was to asses prevalence rate and risk factors of the postpartum depression in women who delivered in The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of The Jagiellonian University in Cracow between 1 X 2003 to 1 III 2004 year. 200 women underwent examination. Conclusion: postpartum depression occur more often in older multigravida with higher educational level who living in big city (more then 50 000 people). There is no correlation between the way of delivery and postpartum depression.
