It is used in many fields of medicine, including orthopaedics and traumatology. The range of indications for PRP therapy has been extended. The mechanism of action of PRP is based on function of growth factors. The application of PRP can be considered for tendinopathy and enthesopathy treatment, osteoarthritis treatment, muscle and ligament injuries, bone lesion treatment, bone infections and many other diseases. There are no standardised guidelines concerning PRP therapy, and the most efficient and optimal method of PRP preparation is yet to be determined. This article aims to present the opportunities of PRP therapy in orthopaedics and traumatology and evaluate its effectiveness.
