The STEPS survey conducted in 2016 by the WHO demonstrated that 31% of adult Georgians (57% of men and 12.2% of women) use some kind of tobacco product. Tobacco consumption in Georgia causes 11,400 deaths annually, including at least 2,100 among non-smokers. This tobacco epidemic costs the country 2.43% of its GDP every year.
