In all stages of its progression, it affects almost half of adult Poles. The prevalence of venous diseases undeniably increases with age. Up to 40% of men and 50% of women over 70 years of age have lower limb varicose veins. The earliest changes are telangiectasias or reticular veins. At a later stage varicose veins and dilatations of the saphenous vein, the saphenozoid vein, their connections and tributaries develop. Untreated venous insufficiency leads to trophic skin changes. The most advanced form of CVI is venous ulceration.
