Preservation of normoglycaemia is a key goal of diabetes treatment. There is a wide gap between the results of glycaemic control in daily practice and the guidelines. Currently incretin hormones are of clinical interest. These are gut hormones which stimulate b-cells to secrete insulin in a glucose-dependent manner. Impairment of the effect of incretin plays a role in the pathogenesis of diabetes. The aim of this article was to present new groups of agents which improve the effect of incretin in treatment of type 2 diabetes.
