Diabetic neuropathy is the one of the most frequent chronic neurological complications of diabetes mellitus. The pathogenesis of this syndrome is not clearcut. It is a polietiological process and many factors are known that increase the risk of neuropathy, especially hyperglycaemia, glycaemic control and the time of disease.
The publication presents in the light of present knowledge the etiology and pathogenesis of the diabetic neuropathy.
