Cerebral venous thrombosis is a rare disorder - it causes approx. 0.5% of stroke cases in patients of various age. The clinical features are different, non-specific, what causes serious difficulties in diagnosis of this disease. Thrombosis may involve the cortical or deep veins or the venous sinuses The best diagnostic method of choice is neuroimaging, while the D-dimer determination is also helpful. The basic therapy involves heparine dosage.
