Child sexual abuse is still treated marginally in many different countries. Statistically, 24.9% of all girls and 22.3% of all boys have experienced sexual abuse in our country, yet, and worldwide numbers run even into 38%. According to the definition, drawing a child in some activity by a sexually mature person in order to sexually stimulate another person, including sex intercourse,
touching, genitals exhibition, pornographic materials presenting and conversations on erotic topics is called sexual child abuse.
Many physicians and gynaecologists have some problems with a proper physical examination of a child suspected to have been sexually abused. There are no clear rules, explaining step-by-step proceedings in these cases. The material taken during gynaecologic examination and its proper preservation to perform additional investigations can determine the diagnosis, introduce the right treatment and initiate legal action. A psychologist plays a special role in both, getting crucial information concerning the occurrence as well as the following treatment.
