This review aims to compare 1470 nm and 1940 nm diode lasers used in endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) for chronic venous insufficiency. Clinical efficacy, procedural tolerance, and anatomical durability of vein closure were analyzed. A PubMed-based literature review of the past 10 years included randomized clinical trials, retrospective analyses, and meta-analyses comparing the use of 1470 nm and 1940 nm lasers in the treatment of great and small saphenous vein incompetence. Data were collected on closure rates, postoperative pain, recovery time, and recanalization rates. Both wavelengths demonstrated high efficacy, with vein closure rates exceeding 95% at one- and two-year follow-ups. The 1940 nm laser, due to its higher absorption by water, allows lower treatment power and is associated with reduced postprocedural pain and faster recovery. No significant differences in recanalization rates were observed when adequate energy thresholds (LEED > 35 J/cm) were maintained. The 1940 nm laser is a well-tolerated and effective alternative to 1470 nm technology. Both approaches meet the standards of modern varicose vein treatment, with the choice of wavelength potentially guided by patient preference and operator experience.
