Classification of cytological expressions of subclinical HPV infection of the cervix is presented. Phase contrast microphotographs of direct preparations were compared with the images of traditional smears (fixed and stained), the histological preparations as also colpophotographs representing various forms of HPV infection of the cervix.
The way of the clinical procedure is discussed in the case of the occurrence of cytological expressions of subclinical HPV infection and the usefulness of the associated colposcopic and phase contrast examination in detecting and monitoring HPV infection of the cervix.
