Hyperhidrosis is a state of excessive sweating beyond the quantity necessary to maintain thermoregulation. It can significantly reduce the patient’s quality of life as well as social and professional contacts. In the treatment of hyperhidrosis, several pharmacotherapeutic and procedural methods are applied. It is also possible to use dermatological procedures, which include injection of botulinum toxin, iontophoresis, microneedle radiofrequency, laser therapy, treatments using microwaves and microfocal ultrasound. The above methods are most often the second line of treatments and their effects lasts up to several months. These procedures carry a low risk of complications, and possible side effects are usually mild and transient. This article presents dermatological procedures that are available for the treatment of hyperhidrosis.
