Introduction. Porokeratoses (PKs) comprise a rare group of skin disorders with disturbed keratinization. Clinically PKs present as annular lesions with a hyperkeratotic ridge. A histopathological hallmark of PKs is called cornoid lamella. Aetiology of porokeratoses is unknown; in 50% of cases PKs are associated with acquired immune deficiency. There is no fully effective treatment of this diseases and different methods of therapy have been tried.
Objective. To present a case of disseminated superficial porokeratosis successfully treated with topical retinoids.
Case report. We present a 74-year old woman with disseminated superficial porokeratosis associated with HCV infection. The diagnosis was established based on histopathological examination, which revealed typical cornoid lamella. The patient was treated with topical retinoids with complete remission of skin lesions.
Conclusion. Topical retinoids may be an effective method of treatment of disseminated superficial porokeratosis.
