The article presents a rare case of external laryngeal trauma. The patient had suffered a compression injury which resulted in crushing the cartilaginous skeleton of the larynx. Tracheotomy was performed as a matter of urgency and the injury was treated surgically in order to stabilize the lower pharynx and the larynx. During the following days further reconstruction of this area was performed. The phonatory function has been restored due to the treatment which was introduced immediately after the injury.
