The article contains a description of a case of a patient with prostate cancer from the time of diagnosis untill the next cancer spread. The aim is to show positive changes in people in critical situation, such as cancer. The authors show a wide range of positive changes in personality as well as the patient’s life after traumatic confrontation with cancer illness. The case report shows the dynamics of changes in the process of malignant disease and explains individual phenomena. It also brings up the difficulties with naming and understanding of the mechanism of these changes. A short analysis was made, treated both as a result of posttraumatic growth and as a result of strategies for coping with stress or cognitive adaptation to the illness. For the psychological research the following questionnaires were used: KOS, PTGI, Mini-MAC, AIS, STAI, BDI, IZZ, SWLS.
