Nearly half of the female cardiovascular mortality is caused by the coronary heart disease and heart failure contributes to 35% of them. Despite this fact heart failure in women remains poorly recognized and has not received the same public awareness as coronary heart disease. Recently, many articles were published indicating on the sex differences in epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis in heart failure. This review is focusing on this issue indicating the observed differences in ischaemic heart failure between men and women.
