The paper presents the indications for insulin therapy, and kinds of insulin preparations. The authors also present current possibilities of insulin treatment, new preparations of insulin and new perspectives (rapidly acting insulin analogues, long-acting analogues of insulin, hepatoselective insulin analogue, inhaled insulin, pancreatic islets transplantation).
