Treatment of cancer pain should not encounter a problem for any healthcare professional. WHO guidelines established 20 years ago are still in force and treatment according to the guidelines helps to control pain in more than 70% of patients. Most pain in cancer responds to pharmacological management using orally administered analgesics and adjuwants. The article reviews the cancer pain treatment recommendations and particularly describes analgesics available in Poland.
