Confronting perimenopausal women’s knowledge of coronary heart disease with their health behaviours. Controversial role of hormone replacement therapy in the protection of coronary heart disease
We observe constantly growing number of Internet users seeking information about health. The most popular are internet sites that include information about specific diseases. Patients use the popular search engines (e.g. Google), just typing their symptoms. The Internet is an easy, accessible 24 hours a day and an anonymous source of information. Treated as a tool, can be used in different ways. The big drawback is the huge amount of information and the presence information of varying quality, combined with the tendency of patients to not check the sources. Internet information can affect the doctor–patient relationship. Ignored by the doctor this information can lead to reduction of patient’s satisfaction. Treating them seriously and appreciate the efforts of the patient, even if the doctor does not agree with them, it does not affect satisfaction with the visit. The solution to this dilemma may be “Internet prescription” – doctor giving the patient professional websites.
