The main goals of psycho-oncology has been described for many years: as to remove or to relieve the negative psychic effects of cancer disease and it’s treatment – otherwise to recover cancer patients’ psychic state as good as before the illness. Positive psychology introduces new ideas of quality of life (QL).

Good QL is defined as the resultant of feeling of happiness and satisfaction of life. It depends on the individual psychic development of man: to enhance his inner resources. That means in practice to develop virtues and psychic strenghts (selfcontrol and resilience). Some of virtues are the most important in psychooncology, namely: forgiveness, gratitude, humour, curiosity, creativity, optimism, spirituality and selfsteem.

The QL of cancer patients’ can be fullgrown by training of these virtues and could be at the same time better than earlier (before the ilness).
