Asperger syndrome is characterized by impairment of bilateral communication, verbal and nonverbal communication, reluctance to accept change, lack of flexibility of thinking and very specific, limited interests. Some authors recognize Asperger syndrome as a lesser form of autism, treating it not as a separate entity and Statistical Manual. In people with Asperger syndrome there are features typical of autism such as deviations and deficits in contacts and social skills, and repetitive or persistent behaviour. To indicate difficulties associated with the differentiation of Asperger syndrome from other diseases, and make use of the Right Hemisphere Language Battery by Karen L. Bryan (RHLB-PL) in the diagnosis of patients suspected of having this syndrome.
