Oxycodone/naloxone prolonged release tablets – innovation in the treatment of pain. Case report

Pain afflicts patients suffering from chronic diseases, and accompanies 80% of patients with advanced cancer suffer from persistent pain. The aim of the pain treatment is to achieve maximum analgetic effect at the minimum side effects rate. The main antianalgesic in the past was morphine, however this therapy brings about gastrointestinal side effects. The alternative to that seems the combination of oxycodone and naloxone in the available medication Targin® (Mundipharma). In this article we present the case of 68 year-old patient, who was treated effectively with oxycodone/naloxone prolonged release tablets. This treatment succeded in efficient pain and constipation control agent.
