Invasive infections are responsible for sepsis, which is described as a complex of disease symptoms resulting from excessive inflammatory reaction. Numerous receptors on the surface of the immune cells play an important role in inflammation. The process of transmitting a signal inside the cell is mediated by toll-like receptors (TLRs). Sepsis disturbs the interaction between proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory mediators. A proper diagnosis and consecutive therapeutic procedures accepted by all health service staff may be very helpful in supervision over the spread of deadly infections.
