Pelvic venous disorders (PeVD) are associated with pain in the pelvic region in women of reproductive age. This term encompasses the causes of chronic pelvic pain (CPP) and venous insufficiency in the perineal area and lower limb of pelvic origin. Due to the lack of a clear etiology and a definitive mechanism of development, it remains a challenge in the diagnostic process and the selection of treatment methods. These symptoms are believed to result from a combination of many factors, including genetic predisposition, anatomical abnormalities, hormonal factors, damage to the vein wall, valve dysfunction or reverse blood flow. Treatment of pelvic venous disorders is aimed at reducing pain and improving the quality of life of patients. Since there is no single universal algorithm for action, the approach to patients with pelvic venous disorders should be holistic. The basis of treatment is analgesic therapy supported by psychological help, but it is also worth considering more invasive methods, such as percutaneous embolization or laparoscopic procedures. Determining alarm symptoms and choosing the appropriate management regimen in patients who report pelvic pain will allow for a faster and more effective diagnosis and thus effective treatment. The aim of this article is to collect and present the latest information on the classification and treatment of pelvic venous disorders.
