Photoprotection includes the use of sunscreens in line with protective clothes and avoidance of exccessive daily exposury to UVR. In the article we discussed proper use of sunscreens in normal life conditions, their potential adverse effects including influence on estrogen, vitamin D synthesis and ability to cause allergy. The rules of photoprotection in children and immunocompromised patients are discussed as well. The role of protective effect of sunscreens against photodermatoses is discribed. Polish recommendations are based on European guidelines as well as on the experts’ knowledge and experience.
