Confronting perimenopausal women’s knowledge of coronary heart disease with their health behaviours. Controversial role of hormone replacement therapy in the protection of coronary heart disease

Introduction:

Rhinophyma is a progressive and disfiguring condition of the nose, marked by the enlargement of sebaceous glands and the proliferation of blood vessels and connective tissue. It is a severe form of rosacea, leading to significant nasal deformity and affecting both appearance and quality of life.

Objective:

To demonstrate the effectiveness of CO2 laser therapy in treating rhinophyma in a rosacea patient.

Case report:

A 66-year-old patient presented with concerns about the appearance of his nose and reported a 4-year history of enlarging masses. The changes caused cosmetic disfigurement. CO2 laser therapy was performed in two sessions, spaced four weeks apart. Mild swelling, redness, and oozing were observed post-treatment, resolving within a few days.

Conclusions:

CO2 laser therapy, performed by an experienced doctor, provides rapid and lasting results. The patient showed cosmetic and functional improvements, with no recurrence of lesions during 1-year follow-up.
