Cardiovascular diseases, and coronary artery disease particularly, are the leading cause of death in women. Recently, many articles were published concerning diagnosis, treatment and outcomes in coronary artery disease in women. Available data suggest that important differences in the management between men and women in every day clinical practice exist: women undergo invasive treatment less often and have poorer risk factors control. These results should focus the attention on the improvement of coronary artery disease management in women.
