RA patients are an extremely heterogeneous group of individuals in terms of onset, course and response to the applied therapy. Therefore a special approach to the problem under study is of great importance. Continues change in medical procedures is often followed by negative consequences; on the other hand explanation of unresponsiveness to the therapy might be very difficult. The complex problem of RA can be analyzed not only by means of biological or medical methods; of particular value seems to be the methodology being used in other disciplines, like philosophy. In the current paper the idea of phenomenology, i.e. the doctrine which might be of value in disclosing the patient’s individual reality, is discussed.
