The occurrence of glucose intolerance is frequently associated with many hormonal diseases. Insulin resistance, leading to impaired glucose tolerance and diabetes mellitus type 2, is a common feature of acromegaly. The review focuses on the epidemiology of glucose intolerance in acromegaly, risk factors, pathogenesis and treatment.
