Stable angina pectoris is one of the main and most important health problems in Poland. The POLKARD-SPOK Program included 31,116 persons at high risk of cardiovascular events, among whom there were 26,952 persons with coronary artery disease. Every third patient in primary care settings with established coronary artery disease had a history of previous myocardial infarction. The majority of patients presented with angina in 1st or 2nd class according to CCS (Canadian Cardiovascular Society). ECG stress testing was the most frequently used method for diagnosis of coronary artery disease. Coronary angiography and echocardiography were performed in one third of patients with coronary artery disease. There were some differences in availability of some diagnostic procedures used for identifying and monitoring coronary artery disease in different regions of Poland.
