In recent years, new reports and studies have emerged describing spleen elastography as a novel and useful tool that may support diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making in patients with liver diseases. An increasing number of studies indicate potential groups of patients in whom spleen elastography may be of value. Therefore, this article provides a comprehensive literature review of current evidence and the most recent clinical guidelines regarding the use of spleen elastography in patients with liver diseases.
