Confronting perimenopausal women’s knowledge of coronary heart disease with their health behaviours. Controversial role of hormone replacement therapy in the protection of coronary heart disease
The specific needs of LGBT+ people are of increasing interest to healthcare professionals. The authors of the article, after explaining the basic concepts in this field, analyse the health situation of non-heteronormative people. The main barriers in the proper access of LGBT+ people to health services, the assessment of the physical and mental condition in comparison with the heterosexual population, and the attitude of medical staff to patients depending on their sexual orientation were discussed. Continuous improvement of medical personnel’s knowledge about the situation of LGBT+ people, their specific problems, and health needs becomes necessary in everyday clinical practice, also in palliative care.
