Confronting perimenopausal women’s knowledge of coronary heart disease with their health behaviours. Controversial role of hormone replacement therapy in the protection of coronary heart disease
There are still eight million smokers in Poland and every year tobacco kills 40,000 Poles prematurely. The Great Polish Smokeout, which culminates on the International No Smoking Day on the third Thursday of November every year, continues to be an important element of building an atmosphere conducive to quitting. For many years the Great Polish Smokeout was coordinated by the Health Promotion Foundation, in collaboration with the Catholic Church. In October 2017 Pope Francis reminded the world that ‘no profit can be legitimate if it threatens human life’ as the Holy See became the first state in Europe to ban cigarette sales.
