Glimepiride is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Many studies indicate that during treatment with glimepiride there is a reduction of HBA1C and BMI, low incidence of hypoglycaemia, and good tolerability and efficacy in patients with cardiovascular disease.
