The present article describes management patterns in post myocardial infarction patients, treated in outpatient primary care. The article summarizes data derived from the POLKARD-SPOK survey, performed under the auspices of the Ministry of Health in Poland. POLKARD-SPOK was designed to determine the compliance of everyday primary care practice with the European Society of Cardiology recommendations on coronary heart disease prevention. According to current guidelines of secondary prevention, the prescription rate of aspirin, beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors and statins still remains insufficient.
