The increasing number of patients with end-stage renal disease both in Poland and worldwide is forcing many physicians to diagnose and treat chronic kidney disease. This review summarizes the newest definitions, recommendations and guidelines both in chronic kidney disease and acute renal failure and most of all renal replacement therapy.
