Comments regarding treatment of heart failure in the elderly patients

Median age of patients with heart failure is about 75 years. Aging is associated with several co-morbidity: hypertension, renal failure, lung disease, obesity, and diabetes. Treatment is difficult, because of poor compliance. Multiple drugs used could cause multiple interactions and adverse events. Relief of symptoms rather then prolongation of life is the most important goal of treatment.
