Introduction. The circulatory system diseases account for the large percentage of the causes of death. These diseases are caused by many
factors. Some of them can be modified, as they result from the style of life. The sufficient level of knowledge allows for changing the style of
life so as to prevent these diseases.

Aim of the study. The aim of this research was to assess the level of knowledge on the risk factors related to the circulatory system diseases
in the population of employees.

Material and methods. The research covered 150 people aged 22 to 62, who reported to temporary medical checkup in the Occupational
Medicine Centre in Lublin. The research was carried out by means of a diagnostic survey, based on the questionnaire containing questions
related to the socio-demographic features of respondents, and multiple choice questions in the scope of the basic knowledge on the risk
factors of the circulatory system.

Results and conclusions. The level of knowledge of the surveyed population, concerning the risk factors related to the circulatory system,
is insufficient. Nearly 30% of the surveyed had a low level of knowledge, while nearly 50% showed the average level of knowledge in this
scope. It was revealed that the difference between the level of knowledge and the place of residence was statistically significant (p = 0.02).
People from villages received worse overall marks in the area under analysis.
