PlumX metrics:
In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) and language models such as GPT (generative pre-trained transformer) have gained significant attention in medicine, including psychiatry. These technologies offer potential in supporting diagnostics, patient monitoring, and clinical decision-making. This article discusses the key aspects of language model applications in psychiatry, with a particular focus on ChatGPT and TherapistGPT – a tool designed to support psychotherapy. The author highlights the benefits of implementing these technologies, including automated medical documentation and enhanced analysis of patient statements. Attention is also drawn to the limitations related to the lack of clinical trials, the risk of misinformation, and ethical concerns. The importance of exercising caution when using GPT models in psychiatric practice and the urgent need for clinical trials assessing their effectiveness and safety is strongly emphasized.
