Confronting perimenopausal women’s knowledge of coronary heart disease with their health behaviours. Controversial role of hormone replacement therapy in the protection of coronary heart disease

Introduction

The article presents a summary of the most important results of the research project on the prevalence and determinants of the psychoactive substance use and other problem/risky behaviours among youth attending youth sociotherapy centres (MOS) and youth correctional centres (MOW).

Material and methods

Participants were randomly selected students of MOS and MOW from all over the country (n = 1730). Data was collected by self-administered questionnaire during school lessons. In addition, 20 individual interviews were conducted with representatives of MOS and MOW staff.

Results

The article includes recommendations for prevention work and further research supplemented by comments of MOS and MOW staff.
