Stroke is still a large medical and socioeconomic problem. Marking such high expenses for a stroke treatment, the knowledge of stroke risk factors is very important. Mentioned below study illustrates this modifiable as also no modifiable ischemic risk factors for stroke. In view of no modifiable risk factors we can not exert prophylaxis or treatment. To this group belongs: age, gender, ethnicity, genetic determinants. The knowledge of modifiable risk factors from point of view of prophylaxis is especially constructive. The determination of etiology and risk factors for ischemic stroke provides a chance to initiate effective etiological treatment.
